Yehoodi LIve at ILHC

Can't make it to ILHC this year? Check out the live broadcast of the event! Yehoodi, in cooperation with the International Lindy Hop Championships, is proud to bring viewers from all over the world to the competition floor. This year, many of the comps will be broadcast live on the internet over the weekend. The broadcast will be hosted by the crew of the Yehoodi video podcast “SwingNation”. Join Manu “Spuds” Smith, Rik “Rikomatic” Panganiban and Nicole “ZuckerPunch” Zuckerman as well as special surprise guests as they bring the action from the floor to your computer or mobile device.

International Lindy Hop Championships

The 5th annual International Lindy Hop Championships are taking place on August 23rd-26th in Washington D.C.! Lindy Hoppers from all over the world come to social dance and compete with the best of the best! As always it's a big deal with big entertainment and big fun!!

Mikey Pedroza Workshop August 11-12

Mikey Pedroza will be teaching an intermediate level workshop August 11-12. Mikey is a professional swing dancer, instructor, and performer based in Orange County, California. He travels the world spreading his love for classical American Jazz Dances such as Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, Solo Jazz, Blues and Slow Drag. Since 1998, he has earned acclaim performing swing dances on stage and winning competitions with an originally developed style of effortless techniques elevated by powerful movement, classic grace and playful expression.

wgsYou may have heard them play at numerous Austin lindy hop events and now they'll be here in Houston to play two shows at The Mucky Duck! "Imagine a smorgasbord of Cab Calloway, circus sideshow, cabaret, Hee Haw, and Robert Johnson served up at Andy Kaufman’s bar mitzvah. A joyous mixture of the absurd and sublime, the six-piece ensemble are “Not unlike a volatile batch of bathtub gin; the music is potent, dynamic, a little dangerous and, once you’re properly acclimated, easy to swallow. The band’s true gift is their ability to take their eclectic influences and combine them into something they can call their own."

 

 

 

Hot Rhythm Holiday Septermber 13-16th

Hot Rhythm Holiday is an Austin dance and music workshop weekend dedicated to preserving the vibrancy of the jazz era. This they are bringing jazz musicians and dancers together for a full weekend to celebrate hot jazz.

New this year: An expanded class schedule with three days of dance classes in balboa, Charleston and collegiate shag. Music classes from Austin’s master jazz musicians. Three nights of social dancing and two nights of live music from Austin’s own East Side Dandies and the famous Jim Cullum Jazz Band. Plus, exciting performances and the Hot Rhythm dance championships!

Todd Yannacone Workshop June 9-10

Todd Yannacone is coming to town for an intermediate Lindy Hop workshop June 9-10th. Registration is $100 or $50 per day. Todd Yannacone teaches vernacular jazz, balboa, lindy hop, and other vintage swing dances both locally and internationally. He loves spreading his passion for social dancing, specializing in connection and musicality. He has been a featured instructor, performer, and judge at camps, workshops, and competitions all around the world - from the legendary Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden throughout Europe, to Asia and North America. He has worked with dance and music legends alike, frequently performing and competing as a member of the acclaimed dance troupe, The Silver Shadows. He has won titles from The American Lindy Hop Championships, The Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, The U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships, The National Jitterbug Championships, The Rhythmic Arts Festival, Lone Star Championships, and more. Todd has been nominated for induction into the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame, and has been interviewed for articles by Swing Dancer Magazine as well as various other publications. He currently lives and dances in New Orleans, LA.
