Guys and Dolls is about a group of gamblers, gangsters and gals in the seedy, after-hours underworld of the city that never sleeps. The 14th Annual Kemah Boardwalk Jazz Festival is going to be jazz-packed. A fantastic list of Houston and International Jazz stars fill two days of music. The 2011 Kemah Jazz Festival is September 17-18. Kemah Boardwalk is tuning up for a harmoniously good time at the 14th Annual Jazz Festival, with an exciting free weekend of jazz music that will satisfy everyone from the amateur jazz listener to the long-time aficionado. Local and national jazz artists will take the stage throughout the weekend to perform for festival goers.

HSDS is proud of all the wonderful dancers who competed in the largest, fiercest International Lindy Hop Championships to date!! While we didn't take home the gold, we're very proud of all the strong dancing and heart and soul you guys put into the weekend! Thanks for representing Houston!!

Updates! The Uptown Band will be playing at the Bronze Peacock Room on August 23rd. Doors open at 7pm, band plays 7:30-10:30. The event is all ages and tickets are $10. They'll have drink specials and a $5 and $7 food menu. If you're interested, the Foundation Room (21+) will have a 3 course menu for $45 with cover for the band waived. Get your toes tappin' to music from Fats Waller at the Miller Outdoor Theater on Friday, August 12th 8:30-10:30pm. The Tony Award-winning musical that honors the legacy of Fats Waller comes to Miller. Song after song, complete immersion into a time when every woe and joy was best expressed in song. This is a free ticketed event for the covered seating area and as always, free open seating on the hill.On August 27th, The National performing Artists, Conrad O.Johnson Regional Youth Orchestra shares the spotlight with The Shellman, jazz great trombonist Steve Turre of Saturday Night Live in "A Tribute to the Big Band Era: Igniting The Flame; Passing The Torch". The exciting show will feature original compositions and arrangements by our late Founder, Conrad O. Johnson, as well as other big band greats, such as Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington.
